You are the product

Zuckerberg and his colleagues have already shown us that they all make us their product and we are the source of their wealth…but this ain’t anything new.

The powers that be, in places like banking, credit, hell, virtually every business out there have all been using us as their minions to increase their wealth.

For example, using your bank, where you place your hard earned money…you want to check your balance? Withdraw some cash? Pay a bill…no sweat, oh, by the way, for moving it around, we just charge a small fee.

In addition to the bank taking your money to use it as their resource, in return for a joke of a return on your savings, they also charge you a fee to use your own money. You are the product.

Want to get a few pennies off of your can of baked beans, just give us the keys to your identity and we’ll track your every purchase and sell that to anyone we like. You are the product.

It’s kinda like the plot for “The Matrix”, you’re the battery for their economic engines.

I’d suggest taking the red pill, but, unlike “The Matrix” we don’t need it to see how we’re being hoodwinked, just look at your bank account.

If you’re asking yourself why is this bozo ranting about this, isn’t this where he shares his thoughts on design and design thinking? This is about design, and I’m asking you out there, if you’re a designer, or someone who consumes designs, to push back against this. I’m good with people making a few bucks on good ideas, but we can do it without fleecing folks, can’t we?
