Diner entanglement hope…

He went into the diner, it was kind of full and there was boisterous, joyful banter throughout. He went in meekly, and saw an open place along the counter. The place was a throwback from maybe the 40’s or 50’s, the tile floor and drop ceiling certainly were that old. He sat and thought back to when he’d last been here. It had been different, for him, and the world. He sat and waited, ordered some coffee and a slice of pie.
He asked himself why he’d come here…but he knew. A stupid reason, maybe a romantic one. A notion of a silly interpretation of things scientific, which he knew were nothing but fantasy. But he also kept the adage that perception is reality, so there was that to hold on to.
He sat, and enjoyed the warm black elixir, with a mouthful of pie it was damn near perfect. He wasn’t happy though.
He started to feel it, like a change in the air, the very essence of it seemed to change and flow through him. He held that feeling and imagined. He imagined, during his last visit here, that he; and she; had left something, some little bits of themselves, like tiny particles of themselves, and those tiny bits of themselves were left here, to become part of it’s overall makeup, but upon returning, as if through the mechanics of quantum entanglement, these things recalled their genesis and reconnected, with him, beckoning him back.
For a moment, he was there, back there, in that moment, that wonderful moment, but merely for a second, and then he was here, now.
Alone.
He sipped the coffee, paid the bill, and left.
