Real data is immensely valuable to any design — it can help to overcome pain, smooth out the rough edges and give a designer confidence in their intent (or encourage them to recalibrate it).
But it has to be real and this is a lot harder to uncover than you may realize. Typically this is categorized as user research, but beware. Just cause you say “research” on something does not validate, certify or otherwise “prove” it’s “realness”.
